Creative Writing Workshop at Rad Cat Bookstore

  • The Rad Cat Bookstore 1717 South Wells Avenue Reno, NV, 89502 United States (map)

We are beyond excited to be hosting this event with bestselling author and autistic disrupter Tiffany Hammond. Friday, September 1 from 6-8 PM PST, Tiffany will lead an intimate, inclusive and fun workshop on writing and storytelling as tools for self-expression and self-empowerment. No writing experience required, of course! The store will be closed to the public during the workshop and we'll ensure a low-sensory, calm and welcoming environment for all.

Tiffany is the author of A Day Without Words, a beautiful and ground-breaking kids' book that centers the experience of a nonverbal child and his Autism Family as they move through the world. Written by an autistic mother of two autistic sons and the creator behind the popular @Fidgets.and.Fries social media platform (that's Tiffany!) and illustrated by Kate Cosgrove (IG @k8cosgrove), A Day With No Words successfully normalizes communication methods outside of verbal speech and provides representation of neurodiversity and autism in a way that affirms and celebrates.

This workshop is part of a multi-day Celebrate Neurodiversity with Tiffany Hammond event supported by a mini-grant from the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities at the University of Nevada, Reno and these community

partners: Facilitate Joy! LLC, JUSTin HOPE Foundation, Structure3C, The Radical Cat, and the Washoe County Library System.
